Janasheen Music
Review
Style has always been the epitome of
Feroz Khan. Ok, so his last directorial venture
Prem Aggan was a dud. But before it there has
been an impressive line up of stylized movies
that were always ahead of the times - Qurbaani,
Jaanbaaz and Yalgaar to name a few. Janasheen
(which has been considerably delayed for about
6-7 months now) attempts at being added to the
list and stars the first of the Khans himself,
along with beta Fardeen Khan and Celina Jaitley
(who debuts as a blind girl playing violin in
the middle of the sea !!). Music department is
handled by a horde of musicians - Anand Raj
Anand, Biddu, Channi Singh-Mrinal Sampat and
Sukhwinder Singh.
'Pyaar Hone Laga Hai' is a regular Anand Raj
Anand love song and is pretty listenable. But
again the problem lies with the shelf value of a
track and this number too suffers in the same
department. Still a number which is good till it
lasts, it has some very conventional lyrics by
Praveen Bhardwaj and is sung by Sonu Nigam and
Alka Yagnik.
'Ishq Fitrat Hai Meri' seems to be a party time
track, with Fardeen declaring to the whole world
that 'love is the aim of his life' and it is his
'be-all' !! A fine track going with Fardeen's
on-screen and off-screen image, it should go
down well with the masses. Anand Raj Anand and
Dev Kohli compose whereas Sukhwinder Singh and
Sunidhi Chauhan are in their usual 'josh' while
singing.
'Ab Ke Baar Poonam Mein' by Babul Supriyo and new find Gauri Bapat is a
romantic love song with fresh lyrics and music
by Nasir Kazmi and Channi Singh-Mrinal Sampat
respectively. A slow number, it is about the
lead couple waiting to meet and spend time with
each other. A good track as it holds freshness.
'Deewani Hoon Deewani Hoon' is another good
track that has been composed by Biddu in his
trademark style and has lyrics by Timon Singh.
Sung by Sonu Nigam, Jaspinder Narula and Gauri
Bapat, this love song may get popular in the
days to come !!
'Ankhiyan Ankhiyan' is yet another number in the
already growing list of the appreciation of
one's sweetheart's eyes. Just an average number,
it is fast paced, but doesn't register much
impact. Musician duo of Channi Singh-Mrinal
Sampat compose whereas Ijaz Ahmed Ijaz writes. 'Dil
Ne Dil Se Tujhe Pukara' - a love song again, is
a comparatively better number which is composed
by ARA and written by Dev Kohli. Gauri Bapat
makes the best out of this opportunity of
singing a solo and does well here. 'Marhaba', as
the lyrics suggest, is based on the Arabian
tunes and is well supported by some rock-solid
orchestra. Composed by Sukhwinder Singh, written
by Ibrahim Ashq and sung by new comer Muskaan
and Sukhwinder himself, it does manages to stay
afloat.
Anand Raj Anand carries on his 'Ishq Samandar' hangover in 'Nashe Nashe
Mein Yaar', the opening lines of which directly
culminate into the 'Ishq Samandar'. A direct
copy, it should be admitted that the number sung
by Adnan Sami and Sunidhi Chauhan and written by
Tejpal Kaur does well, if not associated with
the original. This is primarily due to some good
choreography, cinematography and Fardeen Khan's
antics, a la Salman Khan in 'Ek Garam Chai' from
Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega. Janasheen manages to
provide the music lovers what they expect from a
Feroz Khan movie, though not in totality, but
still reasonably enough. Music of Janasheen does
well as a fast food kinda package. It certainly
doesn't carry a life time guarantee tag with it
but is reasonably OK as a ready-to-serve dish.
