Plan Music
Review
Sanjay Dutt dons the hat of an
underworld guy once again in Plan after
uncountable masala flicks where he has
been on the wrong side of the law. This time, to
give him company are some young faces Dino Morea,
Sanjay Suri, Bikram Saluja and Rohit Roy.
Produced by 'macho specialist' Sanjay Gupta and
directed by his assistant Hriday Shetty, the
film also stars Priyanka Chopra, Sameera Reddy,
Payal Rohatgi and Riya Sen. Music is by Anand
Raj Anand, arrangements by Ranjit Barot and
lyrics by Dev Kohli.
'Pyaar Aaya Pyaar Aaya' is a rip-wroom-roaring number sung
by Alisha Chinoy and ARA. Arrangements by Ranjit
Barot and the overall look, feel, situation and
Sanju baba's antics remind of only one thing -
'Ishq Samandar' from Kaante. Though there
is a clear inspiration, still the number holds
on good and it is strange that in spite of
having a number of positives going with it (with
Priyanka Chopra as a definite addition to the
assets), the number is not being promoted as
aggressively as it should have been. And why
just the single number, the entire publicity of
the movie is not half as 'on-the-face-publicity'
as Kaante boasted of !! Nevertheless the number
has all the ingredients to be popular!
The second track that follows is a romantic
track composed in not so regular fashion. And
why? Because it is composed by Jhankaar Beats
whizkids - Vishal Shekhar. Living up to their
name, they compose a love song in such an
impressive style that you just can't stop
crooning 'Hota Hai Hota Hai Pyaar'
with Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik. This number,
written by Kumaar, makes it two out of two in
Plan so far.
Praveen Bhardwaj says - 'Mera Dil Kuch
Kehna Chahta Hai Aap Se - Kal Raat Se, Kal Raat
Se'. Ask a 3 years old kid what it could
be and you won't be patting his back for giving
a correct answer. Do we appreciate Praveen for
writing so simple lyrics that can be followed
even by a kid or shall we ask for an
explanation? ARA's music and vocals by Kumar
Sanu and Shreya Goshal help the number cross the
average mark and give it some standing.
'Aane Wala Pal' is a track picturized on four young
characters in the flick - Dino, Sanjay, Rohit
and Bikram. A number about looking forward to
life, being optimistic and exploring the world,
it is a situational track that is sung in a
typical fashion by Udit Narayan, ARA, Zubin,
Abhijeet and Babul Supriyo. The track is
repeated in a much shorter version by the same
set of singers.
'Aem Kaim' is composed with a very
obvious hangover of Kaante's 'Chod Na Chod Na
Re'. Sung by Sanjay Dutt, ARA, Abhijeet and
Shaan, it is again a typical number that suits
Sanjay Dutt's on-screen personality to the T. A
track where Sanjay Dutt with his horde of
accomplices sing about how they rule the world
and how they have a name and fame in the world
outside. The number may go well with the gallery
if promoted well, though the predictability and
the repetition factor may just hold it a bit.
'Mehboob Mere' is the second
number by Alisha Chinoy in Plan after 'Pyaar
Aaya'. Though the music is routine and lyrics by
Dev Kohli are nothing new, it is the
arrangements by Ranjit Barot that are impressive
and make the number much crisper by adding to it
that much needed zing. A sensual number that can
be good even for the dance floors !!
'Kaise Kaise' by Adnan Sami and
Sunidhi Chauhan proves one point - the craze of
hearing to Adnan is not as much as it was till
about a year back. A plain number that could
have been sung by just about anyone else, it
doesn't hold that 'something special' which one
normally used to expect from an Adnan number.
Just an OK romantic number!
It would be unfair to expect the music of every
Sanjay Gupta movie to be as good as that of
Kaante. Yes, the plan for 'Plan' has been to
get somewhat similar music as Kaante and this
succeeds to some extent as well. But that
overall zippy effect that was expected is
somehow missing in totality. The music is good
in parts and does entertain, but as mentioned in
the start, the publicity leaves much to be
desired. For a Sanjay Dutt's movie that has a
hit team of Kaante behind it, you need to just
splash the city with promos all around!
