Run Music Review


 
   Remake of a blockbuster Tamil movie by the same name, 'Run' is a love story with dollops of action thrown in and is directed by south filmmaker Jeeva. Produced by Sridevi Kapoor, Run stars Abhishek Bachchan and Bhoomika (who was last seen in an unglamorous role of a simple small town girl in 'Tere Naam'). She makes a switch with this flick and the results are to be seen. Himesh Reshammiya who had a good 2003 (Tere Naam, Zameen) starts 2004 well with 'Run' that has lyrics by Sameer.

'Chunariya' and Himesh Reshammiya seem to have a 'janmon-ka-rishta'. After starting his career with 'Odh Li Chunariya' in 'Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya', Himesh returns with 101st song about 'chunariya' in 'Sarki Chunariya Re Zara Zara'. And one just can't stop appreciating that with amazing regularity, he delivers yet again when it comes to 'chunariya'! The song is melodious, treat to hear and has that typical Himesh Reshammiya touch of innocence throughout. Alka Yagnik is clearly the scene-stealer in this track where she pairs up with Udit Narayan. Bhoomika looks like a doll while Abhishek Bachchan is his usual charming self. A winner!

Himesh's penchant for adding a hint of English lyrics in his songs resurfaces with 'Dil Mein Jo Baat Hai Keh Doon....do you really feel the way I do?' A decent love song, it is nice to see that though all the 8 tracks in the album are love duets to Himesh and Sameer's credit, they all sound different...and good! A nice melodious track that may not set the box-office at fire but will be a good placeholder! On the same tune, another song composed is 'Tere Mere Pyaar Ke Chand' which is not another version of the same but a different track all together. Both the tracks are sung by Alka Yagnik and Sonu Nigam.

Hip-hop beats and the sound of electronic guitar returns with 'Tere Aane Se' that has Kumar Sanu at his nasal best (no pun intended). He is ably supported by Alka Yagnik in this track that also boasts of a remix.

 'Chain Ho Chain Ho' is a top-10 material from word GO and should definitely find a place in the hearts of many album listeners. A sweet melodious song composed in the trademark Reshammiya style with a western touch woven around the song, there is no question why the number shouldn't go some distance.

'Nahi Hona Nahi Hona' is a banjara track by Kumal and Richa Sharma, which is the only number that seems to be somewhat out-of-place when compared with other love songs. The result being that is turns out to be just about OK!

Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik return to hear another duet 'Bade Naazuk Daur Se'. Though the number is again in the league of typical love songs, the difference here is the arrangements that raise it to above average. You do not feel bored and the interest remains alive.

'Run' succeeds in keeping one engaged throughout the length of the album in-spite of all the tracks being love duets and not even a single item track. This itself is the strength of the album. Aggressive promotion of the album should ensure good sales.
